Trick-or -Treat!

Pumpkin carving. Mister independent wanted to do everything himself. Everything that is, until he had to stick his hand inside the pumpkin. That he only did once, as he thought it felt gross. This, coming from a kid who loves to handle the most digusting things like frogs, salamanders, fish, worms, etc. I don't get it! But he had fun nonetheless. We decided to carve pumpkins into ghost, a ninja turtle, and of course, Lightning McQueen (we tried Scooby Doo, but he really didn't turn out). But the rest actually turned out pretty well. Check out the last picture to see the finished products.

Jaxon wanted in on the action too. Carter was very busy carving. After the pumpkins, it was time to make pumpkin cookies and jello jigglers for his friends at daycare. Again, he wanted to do everything himself. This time, he had no trouble gettin gright into it, as most of it included taste testing the cookie dough, the icing and the sprinkles (just to make sure it is all good - as he put it). He did a great job too!

A quick photo of the boys in costume. It was such a nice evening for trick-or-treating. Jaxon was such a trooper and Carter loved every minute.

Skating Lessons

Carter is taking skating lessons this year. Up until now, any time we have gone skating, he had been using the skating aid. But for lessons, he couldn't use that. So, straight for the boards he went, along with about 6 other little ones. It was very cute to see. He was okay with that, until his teacher called them all into the middle of the ice. That's when his mouth dropped and he just stood there for a few seconds wondering how he could get around that. But, he let go of the boards and has not used them since (well, at least not during his lessons).
Heading to the middle the first day! Not sure about this!
Playing games with his buddies Cole and Guerin. It definitely helps to have friends around who are at the same level as he is.

October fun!

Wishing they could be outside helping daddy work on the deck. This is our first fort we built in our yard. This is the one that started the whole obsession with forts. We now have forts everywhere in our house. Just wait, you will see!
Fort number 2. This one in our basement in a VERY small closet that holds our central vac unit. He was certain that he wanted to sleep all night in his fort. So he did. But after a few hours, I moved him upstairs. It just didn't look very comfortable sleeping in a 2 foot by 3 foot closet.

Fort number 3. This one is in our living room window seat. He took everything out and made yet anouther bed there for himself. So, as Jody and I watched tv in the evening one night, he said good-night and closed the lid. He actually fell asleep there too.

Fort number 4. To avoid any other places in our house being converted into temporary forts, we decided to make a permanent one in the basement for him. This one is under our stairs and includes a bed, mini-lights for effect, chairs and a carpet. He loves it and of course, had to sleep in it. It really is pretty cool!

Watching a movie in the fort which is now named, Carter's Secret Hideaway.

Enjoying a few more nice days outside.
End of October and short sleeves! Love it!

Going for a cruise!

On the move!
Playing with cousin Nicolas.
This is Jaxon learning to crawl. He spent a lot of time upside down. But, we are now on the move and cruising everywhere. He has discovered many things including the toilet paper, the water cooler, the remote controls, the stereo system and much more.
Castle day at preschool.
Castle day with his friends Danika and Cole. he had so much fun!

Working at home!

Jody and his dad have been working really hard on building our deck in the back yard. Of course the are used to having an extra set of hands around trying to 'help'. But now they have two sets. Both boys want to be out there and involved. Carter is a pretty good helper already. Jaxon, well, he just tastes the wood and plays with it. But, he is out there and happy.

Playing peek as the wood is being put down.
Carter has discovered a whole new world under the deck now. He has claimed it as his new fort.

Helping Daddy. Jody took a day off to work on the deck. He and Carter started a fire and had it going all day so they could burn the leftover wood. Carter loved having his daddy home and being able to help him.

It was so nice out that we decided to roast hotdogs and have lunch outside. My hardworking guys!
