Detroit Lakes camping

Our long weekend started off by spending the first night on a trcuk stop parking lot in Grand Forks. Yes, this was a planned stop. The idea was to try and break the trip up a bit for the little kids. It actually worked out very well. We left Altona around 9:30 and got to Grand Forks by 11:00 pm. The kids were all sleeping so we just transferred them in to the campers (didn't even unhook) and we stayed up to visit for a while. The next morning was breakfast at the restaurant and then off shopping for a bit.

The parking of the campers on the truck lot.

The weather at Detroit Lakes was great and the bugs were pretty much nonexistant during the days and early evenings. The kids had a blast swimming at the beach, biking, playing on the playstructures at the campground and exploring. It was quite a relzxing weekend.

Jaxon having his first real meal which consisted of rice cereal. Mmmmmm yummy! He loved it though and you will see later just how much.

Too dirty for the camper. We finally made use of the outdoor shower option on our camper. Carter thought it was pretty crazy.

Breakfast altogether.

The beach was right across the road from the campground and the water was awesome. A lot of time was spent at the beach.

Enjoying a snack. These are the 5 oldes kids that weekend. There were still two babies and one toddler.

The busy boys!
Hartley brought his boat and we all got to take a ride. Some even tubed and skiied.

The two youngest kiddies. Madison (Hartley and Michelle's) is 5 weeks older than Jaxon.

Riding the boat together. It was a great day to be out on the water.

Though this thing was a pain to pack and bring along, it sure paid off as Jaxon spent a lot of time in it. He has to be always moving and does not like to just sit on people's laps. He loved this!

Lane (Jim and Ange's) was the other little one there that weekend.

Time for the parents to eat in peace. So out came the t.v. and we set up our own little movie theatre. The kids thought it was awesome and the paretns finally got to eat a semi warm meal without the constant "when are we going to the beach?"

First time for Jaxon in the bike cart without his car seat. Carter liked the idea of beaing able to ride in the cart with Jaxon. It worked well too.

The dads going for a stroll with the little ones.

Like I said earlier, Jaxon loves his cereal, so much so that he wants to help.

Last night camping and it was time to sit by the fire and have some roasted marshmallows. Everyone had a bath, and was ready for bed. Can't wait to go back!
